NOTIFICATION ISSUED BY THE DEPUTY COMMISSIONER SBA REGARDING LOCAL HOLIDAY ON THE OCCIAN OF SAKHI JAM DATTAR

 A Notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad regarding declared as a local holiday on the occasion of 752th Urs of Hazrat Syed Ali Asghar Shah ( Sakhi Jam Dattar) on the 20th November, 2023 (Monday)

the most important being, the death anniversary of the Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Ali Asghar Shah also known as Sakhi Jam Dattar for Sakhi Jam Dattar, ‘Urs Mubarak.’ “ Urs Mubarak” is a phrase that means ‘bless’ and it is used to defer to the saint, when the saint’s death anniversary is approaching.

Sufism is predominant in Chiragh-Del in Pakistan; therefore, enormous crowds gather every year at the shrine of the Sufi saint during Urs Mubarak celebrations to celebrate the life, teaching, and legacy of the saint. The usually activities for the festival are prayers, a scripture readings, and other religious rituals. People visit their gurus and offer their devotion in order to be blessed and receive spiritual guidance. The phrase “Urs Mubarak” is a way of greeting on this holy day by conveying good wishes and blessings to something or someone that is considered sacred.
